CJ

My woodworking journey began over 20 years ago with the construction of my first desk, and my passion for the craft has only grown since. Currently, I focus on creating unique handcrafted furniture and kitchen pieces, blending traditional techniques with modern design.

In addition to woodworking, I’m a Professional Structural Engineer. This background enhances my understanding of wood’s behavior and allows me to craft distinctive pieces with precision. I take pride in adding personal touches and special details to each creation, aiming to captivate and delight.

I’m an active member of the Guild of Oregon Woodworkers, where I’ve honed my skills and knowledge. My studies with notable professionals, including Alexander Anderson of Madrone Studio and finishing expert Michael Dresner, have been instrumental in my development as well as working of course, with Gary.

RIFE

Rife has dedicated the past 10 years to mastering woodworking. He started as a complete beginner with Gary and has since expanded his skills through classes at the studio, with the Oregon Woodworkers Guild, and by working in his own shop. Rafe’s creations are predominantly inspired by Shaker and Mid-century designs, characterized by their clean lines and robust joinery. His approach to woodworking emphasizes safety, precise joinery, patience, and thoughtful design.

Rafe is passionate about guiding new woodworkers, helping them cultivate their enthusiasm for the craft and establish a solid foundation for future projects. Students can look forward to a supportive learning environment where they will practice essential techniques, understand that there are often multiple approaches to a problem, and build their skills for the long term.
